Happy holidays, dear writer! First off, thank you so much for taking on my requests. I realize I have some really obscure stuff this year so I made sure to include a couple of more popular favorites as well. I love all of these fandoms, so I will be happy with any of them.

I’m Joylee over on AO3, Joylee56 on Tumblr and you can find my previous Yuletide Letters on my LiveJournal account Joylee56. Yes, I am fandom old.

I mean it when I say I’ll be happy with anything from these fandoms. But it is hardly fair to hand you a two word optional detail statement and expect you to craft a story. Below are some ideas about what I was thinking when I sent in my request. This is just me brainstorming and I certainly don’t expect you to use all, or any, of these ideas. Optional details are optional. Despite anything I say below, I’m easy. A thousand words in a row dealing with the characters and I’m good.

I have pretty much no DNWs. A few things I’m not fond of include the usual: incest, underage kids, and non-con. I prefer a happy ending, but angst along the way is fine.

Prefer bromance to slash. If you see the characters differently though, I'm not going to run screaming from the room. I do prefer relationships being grounded in some kind of realistic chemistry; emotional commitment improves both the sex and the story. That said, I've got nothing against smut. Go for it if you’re inclined.

If you want to do a holiday story that would be great, but don't feel you have to go that way if you have other ideas.

And I love crossovers and AU s if you want to mix things up a bit.

Some of this is cut and paste from prior years

Plunkett & Macleane
The boys are my most loved tiny fandom. I’ll take anything in this fandom: pre, during, post movie; heist; modern AU; cross-over; you name it. You always wanted to do a post-apocalypse, Zombie, coffee shop, snowed in AU? Go for it.

But if you want ideas...

I do see these two as friends and found brothers rather than lovers. The exception would be a poly relationship with Lady Rebecca. . Or I could easily see Macleane returning to philandering ways and Lady Rebecca turning to Plunkett for consolation/sympathy/support/just generally better husband material. Heck you could even combine the two ideas.

If you don't want to do romance (or even if you do) I'd love to see explored how the addition of Lady Rebecca to the mix, turning them from a duo to a trio, affects things. The class differences between her and Plunkett are even greater than between him and Macleane so that could be a problem. But they both have such a strong connection to Macleane that it seems to me that they would try to get along for his sake. And very easily discover that despite their differences in background they make a good team as well. To the point where Jamie is a little bit jealous? Or does he love that the people he loves like each other?

Or if you wanted to throw in Mary (flashback, AU or otherwise) or an OC for a love interest for Plunkett that would please me too.

If you want to just do a story with the boys that’s fine, too.

I’m fine with them being not too upstanding citizens in the New World. Not returning to actual thieving, but maybe not quite giving up all of their old ways. Especially if they end up in one of the Southren colonies, since I can’t really see Plunkett being comfortable with slavery,

War of the Worlds -
I really liked the chemistry between Ogilvy and Amy. Especially at the end of the series where the two of them are working together to remedy the Martian terraforming (aresforming?). I like Robert Carlyle generally, but he did a lot with very little in this series. Would love to see Ogilvy, Amy and George Jr. forming a family while they try to survive post-series.

Legion of Superheroes -
Brainy and Supergirl was probably my first ship. Back when I was a young ‘un and had no idea what a ship was or what it might involve beyond kissing. But it’s been years since I read comics except for an occasional graphic novel on Hoopla. I stopped collecting back during the Mark Waid Reboot in the 90s, but up to that point I had read a pretty complete run of the Legion. (Only because I have the Hardcover Archive reprints to cover the really early period. There is no way I could afford the original issues of those 50s and 60s books even now.) But feel free to use any continuity you want to. I’m not concerned about spoilers in this fandom. And frankly I’m not going to be able to tell what is a spoiler after that point and what you come up with on your own.

My personal favorite period was the Paul Levitz years in the 80s. Despite the fact that they killed off Kara during it. The first time, but by no means the last, that one of my OTPs ended up dying in canon. I’ve learned not to be bitter (much) when that happens.

But I nostalgically would love to see a happily ever after for these two. I leave the how completely up to you.

Humans Are Space Orcs
I really like how the humans turn out to be the nice guys in this meme: Willing to accept and look after their alien colleagues; Bonding with whatever comes their way; Seeing the humor in the universe.

But like I said in my optional details, I really see what makes humans ‘different’ is our minds and spirits. Humans are generalists in the most extreme ways. Diet -- if it doesn’t eat us first we’ll eat it in a pinch. Environment -- we either adapt or figure out tech that will let us live anywhere. So we probably aren’t going to win any prizes on a physical level cause we just don’t have much in the way of physical capabilities that are all that special.

But generalization has taken us pretty far here on Earth so will probably work in our favor in the greater universe. If you think about a lot of the Sci-Fi where we defeat the aliens, we do it with stealth and cunning rather than force. What if humans are just intuitive game theorists? Or all those games we play with balls and sticks? Maybe we have innate spatial awareness that puts other species to shame. And of course there is the whole pursuit predators thing. And the way we make art out of everything we touch: sound (music); buildings; food; language.

Rivers of London-
I’d love to see more of the interactions of the Folly folk. Just doing what they do. How they interact with some of their colleagues at the Met, learning magic, what have you.

I’d like to see more of Nightingale and Molly’s friendship. It seems to run deep. In Whispers he says he can’t leave Molly alone at Christmas and in the short story Moments, he won’t abandon the Folly, despite it’s bad memories for him because it would mean abandoning Molly .

I’d also like to see more interaction between Nightingale and Peter. Especially their very different world views resulting from being born some 80 years apart and totally different backgrounds. Or you could explore the dynamics of the relationship between Master and Apprentice. Nightingale seems to see it at least in part as an in loco parentis thing, but Peter clearly thinks that responsibility runs both ways.

You don’t need to include all of the characters I selected, And feel free to bring in any of the others that you want.
